i think i've spent a good portion of my life playing this game. skipped school in highschool to drive to a local university to play q3demo on their T3... played in arguably the best quake 3 team in the world 'clan Kapitol' (#cK) probably lost a girlfriend playing this too.
and archie, unreal tournament is WHACK!
Quake is so much fun to play with your friends. You can pass hours and hours by just playing this game. It's highly competitive and really crazy once you get 10 people into one arena.
10/10. If anyone here still plays CPMA or VQ3 mods You know what I mean. There still isn't another game that comes close to it's amazing multiplayer abilities and console comands.
You can practically redesign the entire UI and make it your own. OSP, RAE, UFT and CTF mods give the gamer a choice on what type of game and style he chooses to play. And endless selection of maps keeps everyone entertained - even 8 years later.
Now I know what alot of you CS players may be thinking - Oh yeah we have that too! Sure, but what you don't have is the type of game play Q3 is legendary for. Spawn times for weapons, ammo, Power ups and Armour become something you most constantly keep up with (without a time mind you). Use of transportation devices and knowing where your opponent is going to be and with what weapon is of most importance. This isn't a game where any newb can show up and make top ten. It takes tons of dedication and practice to get up there with the pros. And it's speed is unlike any other game I have yet to seen. Once you've played Q3. Everything else just feels slower.
Thats why I am giving this game 10/10 hands down.
this game isn't bad. I prefer Unreal Tournament though.
I loved this game when it came out. Although there has been many advancments in gaming since it came out. I still fin myself plying for hours on end in multiplayer and even just the main mode. Addictive. 8/10
