My fellow Pwned friends, it is official! Pwned.com is proud to announce that we are coming out of Beta this January 1st 2009. With us coming out of beta, members will now be allowed to redeem the Pwned Points they accumulate by using the site. On top of that, we ...

The Desert Bus for hope
Raising substantial amounts for charity
Posted by smallharmlesskitten [Newsboy] on 12/03/2008 1:59pm

The Guys at LoadingReadyRun are doing it again. They are playing the infamous Desert Bus game as long as they can for charity.  Supported by Geoff from Pure Pwnage, Felicia Day from "The Guild", Will Wheaton from Star Trek The Next Generation, and Tycho from Penny-Arcade the boys (and some girls I'm assuming) are playing the game Desert Bud for as long as they can. The more you donate the longer they play the mind numbing game. At the time of writing they have managed to raise nearly 60 ...

SACK IT TO ME
Posted by Hades on 12/03/2008 9:11am

"SACK IT TO ME"...Weekly Answers to the LBP Community's Questions As has been the buzz around the net and the PS Forum boards, moderation on user created levels has been out of control on the LBP servers. Like crazy to the point where some levels that have no offensive materials or copy written materials have been removed. With no explanation as well. To me this is really hampering one of the best features of this game. Well, last night, Sony came out on this topic in their official blog. ...

[360 Review] Need for Speed Undercover
You'd be better off with Burnout Paradise.
Posted by [FFMAH] Reclaimer on 12/01/2008 10:30pm

Racing titles are ever-evolving. With the intoduction of the open world to the genre, it has seemed that subsequent titles especially after Burnout Paradise have followed suit. While Burnout Paradise was a glowing example of the open world mechanic done right, many of the games it has inspired have been less-than-stellar entries to their respective franchises. The latest evidence of this is Need for Speed Underground. While it aspires to be a “thrilling”, open exercise in evading the cops a...

Uncharted 2 Revealed
Charting a new adventure
Posted by Havik86 on 12/01/2008 10:20pm

Since the days of the original PlayStation, the holy trinity of Sony exclusive developers, Insomniac Games, Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch have always worked hard to produce amazing, wholly original content for the various Sony consoles. Today it was first revealed by Game Informer that Naughty Dog, creators of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter are working on a follow-up to their hugely popular PS3 title Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The sequel titled Uncharted 2: Among Thieves f...

Turns out Sumner Redstone has sold his controlling stake of Midway games for US$100 thousand. This equates to $0.0012 per share. Talk about a black friday deal. Redstone has sold his 87% of Midway for $100,000 to Mark Thomas  on the condition he picks up the $70 million dollar debt the company is in right now. As you should know Midway is most recognised for it's Mortal Kombat which was once a very controversial title in which you could rip your opponents still beating heart out. Even ne...

Every game has a following, with some more fanatical than others. A group of Half-Life fans have taken it upon themselves to fully remake Half-life to run on the Source Engine. Black Mesa : Source as it is to be known combines the deep, rich story of the original with graphics that take full advantage of the Source Engine. Kikenbutsu no Yasashii Butsuri to Kagaku, or “The Tender Physics & Science of Explosive Materials”
Posted by G-Nitro on 12/01/2008 1:14pm

Over in Japan, a super rare Famicom (NES) title has sold at auction for over ¥401,010, which converts to roughly $4,250. The title of said game is Kikenbutsu no Yasashii Butsuri to Kagaku, or “The Tender Physics & Science of Explosive Materials”. While it sounds like it could possibly be of eroge nature, it sadly is not. It was used in training for employees of Idemitsu Kosan Ltd.and developed by well known publisher Konami. The auction began at ¥1,000 and quickly escal...

[XBox 360 Review] Rock Revolution
Godfathers of Rhythm Games Hit All The Wrong Notes
Posted by G-Nitro on 11/29/2008 8:42am

With Guitar Hero and Rock band taking a huge command over the market, one would expect Konami's first stab at the U.S. market with a Band music game would be successful. Hell, they are the creators of the genre in the first place, and have always done it right. Unfortunately with Rock Revolution, this is not the case. Konami fails to take their success at Rhythm games to the next plateau or even the same level as its competitors. The multiple missteps in Rock Revolution range in various capacit...

[NDS Review] From The Abyss
A Solid Foray Into The Action RPG Genre
Posted by G-Nitro on 11/29/2008 12:08am

Dungeon Crawler Hack & Slash RPG games are starting to become a regular genre on the Nintendo DS, so does Aksys Games' set itself apart with From The Abyss? Unfortunately the game doesn't do much to stand out amongst its peers, but it is still a fun time for J-RPG fans. From The Abyss takes place in Rubenhaut where the kingdom has been overrun by monsters flowing through the Abyss Gate. You choose your hero from four possible choices, two male and two female, and then answer a short ...

[360 Review] Call of Duty: World at War
Treyarch's entry into the series is actually quite impressive.
Posted by [FFMAH] Reclaimer on 11/26/2008 11:10am

Bound and helpless in a tiny hut surrounded by fierce Japanese soldiers, you watch. You watch as a fellow soldier is grilled for information by a cigar-smoking general who would give up his own life for his Emperor. When your Marine brethren won’t give in to their relentless torture, he receives a searing hot coal to the face. As he spews blood all of the face of his interrogator, his life is quickly ended by a violent slashing of his throat. All you can do is look on in horror as you realize...

Japanese gaming mag Famitsu revealed that 360 owners will be getting a co-op demo of RE5 next week Friday, December 5th. The demo will have two stages to play through, most likely the ones we've been seeing in the trailers. You don't have to play co-op if you don't want to, there's also a single player option. The article also states that the Japan version of RE5 is being pushed back a week from March 5th to March 12th. For us in the US, it's still on schedule for Friday the 13th.   &nbs...

As of today, Bungie announced that Halo 3: Recon will now be known as Halo 3: ODST, meaning Oribtal Drop Shock Trooper, the center character for the game.     "If you recall, this is our recently announced stand-alone extension to Halo 3 that features an all new campaign played from the perspective of an ODST in the heart of a Covenant occupied New Mombasa. In addition to sleuthing around the city and piecing together the details surrounding your squad's whereabouts, the game wil...

[PS3 Review] Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
The Worlds Collide
Posted by Hades on 11/25/2008 11:18am

The Worlds Collide This game has been a huge one on a lot of people's radars since it was first announced. It has been looked to as a way to reinvigorate the franchise into what it once was. Trying to help fans forget the films and lack luster games that have been placed out there on the market. Here's what I have to say. The Premise: At the end of a great battle against Darkseid and Shao Kahn, each in their own universes, something goes awry and begins the merging of the two universes. ...

[360 Review] Quantum of Solace
The latest James Bond adventure is actually fun~
Posted by [FFMAH] Reclaimer on 11/23/2008 7:45pm

As evidenced in previous James Bond video games, it’s a pure rush of adrenaline to step into the shoes of the debonair agent. From GoldenEye to Everything or Nothing, the Bond games have usually been faithful recreations of the films or entirely new adventures to embark on. With Quantum of Solace, the newest addition to the Bond game library, the total immersion of being Bond is alive and well. With much owed to the Call of Duty 4 engine, this is a fast-paced, fun FPS with elements of third-p...

The following is a list of each pack and their cost and contents taken directly from the PlayStation Store:   Astronaut Pack $2.99 – “26th Century” Astronau...
