BULLET
My Rating: 8.4 / 10
Good story, fun coop play. This game is what kept Xbox alive for quite a long time since there were barely any titles for the system at first. The plot sucks you in from the begining and makes you want to know what happens next. If you havent played this game, then get out from under the rock you've been living in and freakin play it!
Ex Mortis Invictus
My Rating: 9.0 / 10
If Half-Life was the graphite that rewrote the FPS genre, then Halo is the cut diamond. Halo takes a step forward by slowing down the frantic combat found in shooters like Half-Life, adding an element of strategy by forcing the player to carefully choose his weapons, and creating an incredible, sweeping world in which an epic war is being fought. Since story should be at the forefront of any video game, this game stands easily ahead of both Halo 2 and 3. This game ventured to take familiar elements of the science fiction genre and make them unique and engaging within the Halo universe. Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov introduced the concepts of supersoldiers and artificial intelligence to the world; Halo took these architypes and made them engaging, interesting characters that made the game, and the universe in the game, real to the player.
Halo was released in 2001, and remains the game with the most played single-player campaign in my game library. It is a masterpiece of both the first-person shooter and the science fiction genres.
9/10 for occasionally repetitive level design, which is a fault that lies with the storytellers. Otherwise, an absolutely brilliant game.
