Besides the the coop the game features a versus mode which is addicting. You play humans versus infected bosses. Which feature, Boomer, Hunter, Smoker, and Tank. The game randomly chooses who you can be. You then choose a spawn point and then go to town.
Left 4 Dead has a arcade feel to it. Don't expect a epic storyline or cut scenes. The only cut scene u get in the game is the intro, which i think is kinda lame. Also in the versus mode, you can only play 2 maps.....TWO MAPS. WTF......
I guess that isnt a bad thing since people online only play 2 levels even though there is like twenty map packs.
Highly addicting and adrenaline pumping!!! i love the fact that there are random respawns. every time you play is a different experence.
this game can only get better with time.... and by time i mean maps.
I've had Left 4 Dead since it was released, and I must say. I am quite enjoying this game very much. That said, there are indeed a few things that make me wish the game wasn't out yet, or hope for a patch real soon.
Versus - As fun as this may seem, it can easily be very one sided, tilting drastically in the survivor's favor almost too quickly, or easily. When you play Expert in Campaign, the Boss Infected; Hunter, Smoker, Boomer, and Tank, are all very formidable foes to deal. They can easily shift the game from, "Almost won, just a bit further!" to, "How the hell did we lose?!" But when you enter Versus mode, all of that is gone, when YOU play as the Infected, you do majorly less damage to the Survivors, you can die in mere seconds, even as a tank! I managed to survive a grand total of 10 seconds as a tank. Teamwork does help, I've played a few, very rare cases mind you, games where we won as the infected with a major 4,000+ point lead on the survivors. That said, Teamwork is a must and can be hard when your team mate cannot hear, or even speak to you due to a lack of a mic, or issues understanding English, let alone speaking it. It can truly be hard to find a game, where everyone has a mic, knows what to do, where to go, how to set traps as a Hunter, or a smoker. Instead of running out trying to give them a hug, and wondering why you died in seconds. Also, there is only 2 Campaigns you can do, No Mercy, and Blood Harvest. Good maps, but I would have enjoyed more. Maybe later? One can only hope.
Campaign - Very fun, can be short depending on your difficulty. Expert definitely makes a difference, if you say the game is too short, or too easy and not worthy of a challenge, I hope you at least have the Expert Campaign Achievements/Trophies to back up your bashing. Yes that may get old, "You haven't even beat the game on the hardest setting yet! PHIALZ!!" But in this case, it is very much true. I went through a campaign by myself on Normal, too easy and couldn't handle it. Put it on Expert, and my life flashed before my eyes, and I found myself hiding in a closet, crying myself to sleep until the sun came up.
Gameplay - Very good, another golden egg from Valve, but could it have been better? Indeed, no game is perfect. Major gripe about gameplay for me? Damage. All it takes is ONE Infected to basically put you in a situation you cannot escape. Fun and all, but if ONE Infected, not even a boss, just your average fodder infected, can stop you in your tracks with a single blow, a single blow that leaves you momentarily stunned long enough for you to be surrounded. You can easily find yourself ready to throw your controller out the window, I know I was. Scenario; No Mercy, Chapter 1 The Apartments. My team and I were doing well, we were a stones throw away from reaching the Safe House. We thought we cleared the streets, we were wrong. I go down the stairs, and I suddenly stop in my tracks, can't move forward at all. Turn around and there was an Infected hitting me. I melee him, and go to run downstairs. Teammate comes up, shoots car setting off alarm and runs back down...needless to say I could not get away. I get surrounded, beaten down and start getting curb stomped. All while a hoarde comes rushing after me, and my team mate, despite me saying, "Just get to the safe room!!!" he decides to run out...and gets pounced by a Hunter. Game over. Why? He had no mic, and couldn't hear me say what I did. Other than this, controls are fine, have not found any graphical, or gameplay glitches yet, other than being able to jump from the roof at the start of No Mercy, and live; Thus making the trek through the apartments useless.
Overall? I'd easily, and gladly give this game a 9.5/10. Graphics are good, audio adds to the environment, plays smoothly, online is fun and never gets boring, and It's a Zombie Survival Horror game by Valve, what more can you want? This is what Resident Evil: Outbreak SHOULD have been. My first serious review, hope it's good! >=(
This is a wonderful game with friends but really lacks when you have none or they just don't have it.
So far it's my current Valve favorite!
It really does bring the whole co-op thing to play, and it's EXTREMELY enjoyable to play
p.s I noticed playing it with girls in the room makes them scream hahaha
:D
THIS GAME IS AMAZING! SO AMAZING IM GONNA NOT TOUCH MY CAPS LOCK. ITS SO INTENSE! THIS IS A GAME THAT USES ALL OF ITS FEATURES TO FREAK YOU OUT. ALL I NEED IS TO HEAR THAT WITCH CRYING AND IM OUT. IM BUYING THIS GAME AS SOON AS I GET ENOUGH MONEY. THIS MAKES EVERY OTHER ZOMBIE GAME LOOK LIKE COOKING MAMA. IF YOU LIKE ZOMBIES I SUGGEST BUYING THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. THIS IS THE FIRST GAME I ACTUALLY TALKED MY FRIENDS THROUGH THE WHOLE OPENING SCENE AT SCHOOL BEFORE FINDING AN UNBLOCKED VIDEO AND WHICH MADE THEM ALL WANT TO PLAY THE GAME. I EVEN PUMPED MY FRIEND UP WHO NEVER PLAYS GAMES AND NOW SHES DYING TO PLAY IT. GO PLAY IT NOW, BUY IT, AND PLAY IT WITH ME. THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE GAME.
Definitely worth getting xbox live for, this game is an amazing multiplayer game, and headsets really do help the co-op style of it. I played it for five hours straight online recently, it's addictive and you wont be able to get enough!
