[[Preview]] Guitar Hero: On Tour for DS

4 Bumps

Mood: Ready for some ROCKING TIMES!!

So you've spent all these years perfecting those brightly colored notes that the time has finally come to go on tour!!! We've all been hearing about a Guitar Hero DS for sometime, since September 7, 2007 at GDC, but it turns out that the rumor is finally going to come true.. you will be able to take your tunes on the road and rock out in public or something lol.

This portable version features the same rhythm-based "play to the music" gameplay of console game, and will even have its own peripheral to get the job done: Red Octane has developed what it's calling the Guitar Grip to give players the ability to finger chords in similar fashion as the console version's guitar peripheral.

Guitar Hero: On Tour will contain a wealth of licensed songs from bands as Nirvana, OK Go, and No Doubt, allowing gamers to rock out to tunes by some of their own guitar heroes.

Like every other Guitar Hero game, there will be a Career Mode along with co-op or competitive two-player play, including special "On Tour" challenges exclusive to the DS game (with power-ups that will send opponents into a frenzied touchscreen autograph session or set their pyrotechnics display to go haywire and require players to blow out the fire.)

The core gameplay, described by a IGN preview, remains unchanged from the other games in the series. As notes scroll down on the top screen, the player must hit the correct fret button and strum the touchscreen at the same time to successfully score points. To adapt the gameplay to the Nintendo DS, the game will ship with a special controller, the "Guitar Grip", that is slightly smaller than the Nintendo DS and fits into the Gameboy Advance cartridge slot on the unit.

Apparently, there will be 6 different characters you can use in the game. Four from the previous games, my money is on Judy Nails, Axel, Johnny for sure, and 2 new special On Tour guitarists. I'm interested in seeing the new players!! ^_^ What style will they bring to the game?

That actually sounds pretty awesome. I wasn't that sure at first how this game was going to be but Idk.. it's beginning to grow on me. I will know when the playlist for the game comes out. It still does look a little hard to hold though and I'm not sure how that's going to work. I suggest practicing holding your DS already lol.

Its said to be released in the Summer of 08.. so that's just around the corner kiddies!!
