Mood: Yayyyyy can't wait

WiiWare is a game-creation service that will allow developers large and small to create new downloadable video game content for sale by Nintendo through the Wii Shop Channel of the Nintendo Wii.

WiiWare paves the way for smaller, more creative games to make their way to the public at lower prices, without any inventory risk to developers in much
the same way as Microsoft's longstanding XBLA service.

The first WiiWare content will launch in early 2008.

==============================================================

Why am I excited? Well at first, to be honest, I wasnt. I figured developers were going to be putting out mediocre horrible shitty games. Ignorantly, I assumed these games would be a mass of mini-games from Wii-swinging hell. Ofcourse, I was wrong. How could I doubt Nintendo? They have never let me down before. So I went to research what games would be out and what I was in for.

Here is the full list of Wii Ware games announced as of May 4th 2008:
  • Action Loop Twist / Magnetica Twist [Puzzle]
  • Alien Crush WiiWare [Simulation]
  • Animales de la Muerte [Action]
  • Block Buster Deluxe [Arcade]
  • Blue Oasis [Simulation]
  • Bomberman [Puzzle]
  • Bruiser and Scratch in the Case of the Puzzling Paw [Puzzle]
  • Butterfly Garden [Other]
  • Critter Round-Up [Puzzle]
  • Defend Your Castle [Action]
  • Dr Mario & Germ Buster [Puzzle]
  • Eternity's Child [Adventure]
  • Everyone's Pokemon Ranch [Other]
  • Family Ping Pong [Sports]
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Lise As A King [RPG]
  • Fishy [Simulation]
  • Gravitronix [Action]
  • Gyrostarr [Shooter]
  • Home Sweet Home [Simulation]
  • Last Flight [Action]
  • LIT [Puzzle]
  • Lost Winds [Adventure]
  • Major League Eating [Simulation]
  • Maruboushikaku [Puzzle]
  • Mojipittan [Puzzle]
  • Pirates: The Key of Dreams [Adventure]
  • Plattchen Twist 'n' Paint [Puzzle]
  • Pop [Puzzle]
  • Project Bang! [Puzzle]
  • Raid Over The River [Shooter]
  • Shantae [Adventure]
  • SPOGS Racing [Racing]
  • Star Soldier R [Shooter]
  • Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People [Other]
  • Tetris [Puzzle]
  • Toki Tori [Puzzle]
  • Worldsnake [Puzzle]
  • World of Goo [Puzzle]
I bolded the games I have researched and am HIGHLY looking forward to play. There seems to be a lot of Puzzle games in this list so I'm pretty excited to read about those and see how challenging they might be. Here is a little insight on the games I bolded.

Animales de la Muerte: Seemingly similar to games such as Smash TV and Alien Syndrome, you will mostly stay in one location trying to stay alive as long as possible. The game takes place in a Mexican zoo where recently, animals have begun dying only to resurrect as zombies. The game has a cutesy graphics style but seems to actually be quite gruesome.
[My last blog was about this game. Video included. Go see!!!]

Dr. Mario & Germ Buster: Puzzle video game starring Dr. Mario in development for WiiWare, a service launching for Nintendo's Wii in Japan in March 2008. The title supports the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, allowing players to compete with one another over the Internet. Players can also use their Mii characters instead of Mario characters during gameplay. Dr. Mario & Germ Buster also features a version of the Nintendo DS title Brain Age 2's "Virus Buster/Germ Buster" mini-game, which now allows up to four players to participate cooperatively.

Eternity's Child: (previously known as Angel's Eternity) is a side-scrolling platform game based on the fairy tale created by Luc Bernard, which was initially developed for Xbox Live Arcade, one of the first games to be made with the XNA toolset. On September 9, 2007, it was revealed that it was changed to retail Nintendo DS and WiiWare titles, to be published by British retro games publisher Alten8.

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People: Based on the popular character Strong Bad from www.homestarrunner.com, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (SBCG4AP) will feature many elements from Strong Bad's own series of email-reading cartoons. You'll be able to explore the Homestar Runner world, answer emails yourself, make prank phone calls and play some of the arcade games featured on the website too. The game will consist of 5 episodes (Similar to Telltale's popular Sam & Max series) which will be released on a monthly basis.

Sooooo.. in conclusion. I'm looking forward to seeing the different variety of games coming out on WiiWare and you should be too!!

Oh snaps, I read a lot about these in the newest Nintendo magazine, I am so excited, people are just going to download games for the Wii and stop showing up at G-stop.

WiiWare is certainly a step in the right direction for Nintendo.

For anyone that cares, it has been rumoured that a WWF No Mercy and Goldeneye 64 remake will be appearing on WiiWare (of course the latter is VERY unlikely)

I am totally excited for the Everyone's Pokemon Ranch! I have been waiting for that to release since I read about it in March =] Lucky Japanese people get everything first! grr..one day lol
