OK!
so i finally got to play GTA 4 on Monday. First impression...SICK! Second impression...I'm never taking my seatbelt off again...
yea weired but true...
so heres the skinny. I know MADD has issues with GTA 4 cause you can go drunk driving and blah blah blah wah wah wah :P but what I want to know is why are people only hoping on the bad publicity wagon? I mean AAA should be a major sponser if you ask me. I see commercials all the time about needing to wear my seat belt and none of them have ever had the gravity that GTA 4 does. I mean if you hit a wall while ur flooring it and ur not wearing your seat belt in that game...U GET F'D! the first time it happened i let out a huge "O SH^T!" as my little pixilated pal when from cruising the street to wall pancake in about 0.5sec. I mean sure it can be fun and useful in game but holy hell there is no way im hoping in a car without a seatbelt after seeing Niko go all rag doll into on coming traffic.
dont get me wrong i know its funny and fun but seriously...NO1 is gona go out and hit a wall at 60 without a belt on just to see if their body will make as good a projectile as Niko's.
this has brought me to a new question...
we have groups like MADD slaming games for what they do that people don't like but what about all the people that will see Niko as a crash test dummy? people that COULD label him a teacher to the youth of america. we made an entire childrens tv series on crash test dummys but when a contraversial game come out fully equiped with a better example every1 stays away like the game has the clap or something.
so my point...
look we all know no1's going near GTA 4 if they want to keep their reputation (*cough* AAA, yea i seriously e-mailed them about it but they havent responeded...obviously) so that where we the gaming community comes into play. maybe no1 noticed but i sure have, were getting to be one hell of a major voice in media nowadays and if we as a collective start a stink about something people notice. so why dont we use this to our advantage? i mean seriously...we could just have mass e-mails go out and make a difference we wouldnt even have to leave our homes. but i think at the same time we got a voice we all got real lazy, and though we care about the issues we only care on our own time. so i wonder how we should approach the idea itself of actually trying to rally the troops to fight back for games that get an unjustified bad rap.
