Ah caffine. People like me sure appreciate what it does for us. Two to three cups of coffee in the morning, and a few dews in the afternoon. Gotta love anything caffinated, from soap (you can get it at thinkgeek.com) to mints. It was the way I stayed alive through the whole day, and not to mention how I stayed up through the whole night at LANs. One problem is...such an addiction isn't always as amazing as you feel when you actually get all of your daily dose. It was causing me migranes every once and a while that would leave me bed-ridden for days. Not cool. Caffine, good. Headaches, bad.
So, I quit caffine. I figured this would a subject that would be of interest to all of us who do enjoy the effects of caffine. I can say it sucked. I was so tired I could barely function. I HAD to go to bed at 10:30 to be able to drag myself out of bed at 7:30, so when I worked the night shift as I always do it killed me to have to get up in the morning. I was so crabby nobody wanted to be near me, and I had a headache 24/7. So was it worth it? I must admit without lovely mountain dew and tasty coffee I don't get headaches from caffine (I get them from other things though) and I have more energy overall. I can wake up in the morning and not have to stumble to the coffee machine or spend money going to a coffee shop. I can stay up later and still wake up early. Though, it means I can't stay up all night as easily, and if I do end up staying up all night somehow, i'm down for a few days.
Was it worth it? My family probably says yes, but I say not really. I love my caffine, its amazing. I also just like the taste of coffee, and decaf just isn't the same. So i'm trying another experiment and I'll let you all know how it pans out. I'm going to have caffine sparingly (only at lans and when I really need it) more like a special treat. I'm going to see if that makes much of a difference or if i'm even capable of doing that without going all out again just cause I was an addict and its easy to get back into that pattern again.
Any comments? Let me know. Also. You have no idea how hard it is to be at a party or hanging out with your friends and there be a fridge full of dew, and you can't have them. And if you do know what its like, well, then you know how much it sucks.
That is all for today. Peace. I'm out.

In large amounts, and especially over extended periods of time, caffeine can lead to a condition known as caffeinism. Caffeinism usually combines caffeine dependency with a wide range of unpleasant physical and mental conditions including nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremulousness, muscle twitching (hyperreflexia), insomnia, headaches, respiratory alkalosis and heart palpitations. Furthermore, because caffeine increases the production of stomach acid, high usage over time can lead to peptic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
I went through a similar experience and researched the effects of Caffeine. That's what I learned.....
