had the chance to speak to 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman,
who revealed that the studio is considering rebooting the "Daredevil"
franchise after the 2003 Ben Affleck movie was panned by critics.
"A Daredevil reboot is something we are thinking very seriously about," said Rothman. "We've
got all the rights. And yes, I think that the thing the Hulk showed
although, it did what it did, is that it is possible, that if you
really do it right the audience will give you a second chance. That it
is possible. And I think that you see that when they did Batman Begins,
the first [Christopher] Nolan movie, that you can have made some
mistakes along the way or movies that the audience wasn't that crazy
about and then given the proper amount of time and the right creative
vision behind it, you can reboot."
He continued: "I am
actually encouraged by both the Hulk experience and particularly by
what they did with Batman, after the relative disappointment of what
the last Batman was [1990's incarnations]."
Would the new "Daredevil" movie be as dark as "The Dark Knight"? "I don't know because what it really needs is, it needs a visionary at the level that Chris Nolan was," said Rothman. "It
needs someone, it needs a director, honestly, who has a genuine vision.
What we wouldn't do is just do it for the sake of doing it. Right? What
we try to do is to get a creative engine for it, that really had a
great vision for it, that's what we would look for."
Who do you think would make a good Daredevil?

Based on the 1941 classic of the same name, "The Wolfman" tells of Lawrence Talbot, an actor (Benicio Del Toro) who returns to the home of his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins)
after the death of his brother. Familiar awkwardness becomes the least
of his problems when he is attacked and bitten by a wolf and quickly
takes on hairy, toothy qualities whenever the moon rises.
Emily Blunt plays Gwen Conliffe, a woman for whom Lawrence develops an affection
and who, to further complicate matters, was the fiancee of his brother.
The new movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2009.

| Harrison Ford Says "Indiana Jones 5" is in The Works |

Ford has revealed to LA Times that George Lucas is currently thinking
up ideas for a fifth installment in the "Indiana Jones" franchise. "It's crazy but great," he said. "George is in think mode right now."
Ford added that another film is a good and attractive suggestion. "It's
automatic, really, we did well with the last one and with that having
done well and been a positive experience, it's not surprising that some
people want to do it again," he said.
So is it Lucas who will be putting a story together, or does Ford and Steven Spielberg have a chance to throw in some ideas? "Really, it comes from the ethos, from the ether," said Ford. "It's
natural. It's a way of nature, of course, success breed opportunities
... also we don't stay as closely in contact as have in the last year,
that's part of it."
Ford added that he would not be
interested in making an animated "Indiana Jones" film, a notion that
became at least a possible option after Lucas took his "Star Wars"
theatrical saga into the computer-generated realm with "The Clone Wars" this summer.
"I'm not philosophically against doing animation roles but not for Indiana Jones," he said. "I'd hate to see it reduced in any way from the movies that we have done and the way we have done them." |
