I just play games. I used to play a lot more but work and life forces me not to play so much.
I find myself playing more 'casual' games than 'hardcore' games simply because of time restraints. And usually they are more fun to play as well...
I refuse to be labeled...
I don't refer to myself as either. I'm a gamer. Nothing more.
As for lack of games do to a life, yeah, I learned the hard way this year. I have school, medical bills, and school loans I have to deal with, and games are not as important so I don't play as much. Now I just buy games that I know that I'm going to play and never get bored of. If I do get the time to play, then I play.
Hardcore Gamers, is that like Hardcore Porno?
thats pretty lame shit, just play yo games ennit, casual games are usually the most fun
People really do label themselves as a Hardcore gamer. I guess to make them feel more superior. I'd admit I used to call myself a hardcore gamer, not anymore. Grew up I guess.
I love casual games. It kills time and it helps me to relax. I'd rather play that more than the so called 'hardcore' game.
I will admit. I got to the Grand Master Levels of Peggle, AND I beat Tales of Symphonia (100+ hours of hardcore RPG. Wot)
But yeah, Hardcore generally defines extremely dedicated. If you were to generally define a Hardcore gamer, it's just someone who plays GAMES. Doesn't matter what console, what game. A game is a game (Well... Maybe not PARTY Babyz)
Hmmm Peggle. Now I'm intrigued. What's the game about?
I will admit, I did refer to myself as a hardcore gamer when I was a teenager, thinking I was hot shit or whatever. Then as I got older and a little bit wiser, I decided to not use that term anymore to describe me. I know some Hardcore gamers. Mostly older gamers, and thank god they are not as closed minded or a dumb ass fanboy. I don't think the term is bad, but the dumb ones, the ones who has nothing better to do but to put others down and think they are better than anyone because they played games since they were kids or whatever, makes some hardcore gamers look bad. So I used that term to describe people that I know. As for me, I'm just a person who likes play videogames alot. A gamer, nothing more.
I don't get the mentality of gamers today. They refuse to play anything from the Wii (or anything Nintendo for that matter) because it's too casual or too kiddy. You serious? It was like that since the first Nintendo came out. They were always casual friendly, it's just that they are smart enough to use that to get more people to play. People who think this way are insecure with themselves. I know I have issues with the Wii, but it's more about shitty third party sholverware than anything.
I love games with blood and gore, but once in awhile, I love to just chill out and play Wii sports, or My Sims. I played Wii Music, even though that game is trash, It's still fun.
tl;dr : Peggle sounds interesting, some hardcore gamers are not that bad...sometimes, gamers today are stupid, I love wii fit.
Peggle is a Popcap game. Very similar to Snood if you've played it. It's like 5 bucks on Steam.
I don't flat out refuse to play Wii games, I just have very low expectations from them at this point. After I played Twilight Princess and didn't come close to any sort of challenge I threw in the towel saying "fuck this, I'm bored." Almost every Wii game has given me similar results since then... or poor controls.
I have no problem with art designs that are referred to as childish. Games are supposed to be fun, I'll take them in all color schemes and settings. Blood, guts, and 4500 shades of brown don't make games good. It's kind of funny that the most immature of gamers limit themselves to Mature rated games.
Peggle is virtual crack.
It's like pinball meets plinko.
Great game to play when you have a few hours to pass with friends.
I hate the term "hardcore gamer". Shit's lame.
Especially since most people who consider themselves "hardcore gamers" having only been gaming for 1-2 generations.
Casual games do exist though, and they're not really Satan or anything like "hardcore gamers" make them out to be. Casual games are just fun little time wasters with no deep story or gameplay systems. They're meant to be played casually... you know... hence the name, and shit. Peggle is a great casual game. It only takes a few minutes to play a round of it, the controls are really simple, but the game is satisfying.
I try my best to never use the term hardcore. I usually refer games like CoD4 and the like as "games", and games like Peggle "casual games." 16 year olds need to get out of the mindset that because there's guns and blood that they're game is "deep and hardcore and mature and awesome!" They're holding the medium back from becoming something much deeper and safisfying.
