Fable 2 Collector's Edition Stripped Near Bare
Loses Many Bonuses, but gains a downloadable soundtrack?

Looks like Lionhead Studios have dropped the ball once again.  As if possibly not having online co-op at release wasn't bad enough for those gamers waiting for Fable 2, those who preordered the Collector's Edition will be sorely disappointed in finding that it has been stripped nearly bare.  Gone are the Collector's Case, the Fate Cards, and no Hobble Figure.  Lionhead blames supply chain issues on this problem, and with only weeks left before the release, it causes on to wonder how this could have happened.  They have decided to drop the price to $69.99 instead of the original $79.99 price, and will offer a downloadable soundtrack as well.

I don't know about everyone else, I'm off to go cancel my Fable 2 CE preorder, and we'll see if I even bother preordering the regular as it makes me worry about what else is going to go wrong with this game.  A game of this calibre should not have this many issues this close to its launch date.

Well this is terrible news. I was looking forward to all the little collectible things that came with the CE. I think EB will be getting a visit from me tomorrow

If anything else I am excited about the limited edition weapons and armor.

I think too many people abuse the title of "Collector's Edition". I can't really comment on Fable 2 specifically, but in general it seems like too many games are getting the CE treatment. In the end though, there's nothing really special about them. Just the same old junk.

just somthing I would like to pint out, the Halo 3 Limited Edition included a helmet that took the price over a hundred dollers that they probably made for $12 dollors and no one screamed about it but they mess with Fable and they get pissed off. tell me that you are notgetting a better deal because as far as I can tell it only had the helmet, bonus disc and the game but since it's Halo people are willing to pop down a pretty penny. Yes there are a lot of CE editions comming out but the games are big and they are coming out at the same time so be expecting to see a rise in the number of CEs. If it's just a bous disc then yea it's not worth it but usually they include more and they are only $10 dollers extra.

It has nothing to do with CE's for big games being released within a short amount of time. If you look back just a couple of years ago, there were very few CE's. Now if a game throws together a couple of behind-the-scenes videos and a different image for the box-cover, everyone slaps a CE label on it. The point is, it's not that there are too many in general, it's that there are too many that are not worth the extra $10, $20, or $30.

Well look what we have coming out. Basically in a month span we have some of the largest titles coming out! These titles people can't get enough of or are part of a series that gamers buy because they love the previous games. It only seems like too much because they are so close together and you have to spend so much money in such small time so Collector's Editions tend to be for the people that know they will love this game regardless of what reviews might say about it.

I don't see why you are droping your pre-orders. yes, you are lossing some swag but at the same time you are getting the moeny back for not having those as well as a free soundtrack for CE holders when they finish the CD. The money fits what they are offering so stop your crying and look at it in a different way then you are losing stuff.

I agree that it is abused but truthfully if I like a CD I don't get it on a bitorrent because I want to support the people that made it and not rip them off. you are correct that america dose rip of their buyers but still what they are offering for this is just fine for the price.

Because I don't feel giving me a DVD with bonus features classifies as a Collector's Edition, and I hate that U.S. companies do that. I like Editions that actually give you more, as in figures, art books, other type of swag. And the CD is just a download, which everyone else will get anyway once it's released on torrents. Japanese game companies do it right when it comes to limited editions, as you get a crap load of stuff when buying them.

wow sucks to be those people

damn. gl;ad i havent switched to the CE yet
